Risako (Lisa) Watanabe

Watanabe & Associates, Founder / Consultant

Lisa Watanabe, Ed.M., MPA, the Founder of Watanabe & Associates and a researcher at Keio University Global Research Institute, works at the nexus of research and practice to positively impact the world. A Fellow at the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School Affiliate, she offers executive coaching and training to clients, focusing on leadership development and organizational culture change using adult development psychology and adaptive leadership theories.

She is a Certified Immunity-to-Change™ Coach and a Certified Reliable Subject Object Interview Scorer (Certifications: Minds At Work, Cambridge, MA, USA. Lisa is the first Certified Reliable Subject Object Interview Scorer from Japan.) Lisa has over 20 years of professional experience in the area of human resources development in the private and public sectors and worked with organizations including Toyota, UNICEF, and the UN Population Fund.

 

While co-designing and lecturing for leadership courses at Keio University, Lisa assesses and supports physician leaders in academia in collaboration with higher education institutions. She is a former Japan representative at MIT for an online STEM education initiative for secondary schools. 

Lisa has earned a Master of Government Administration at the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Education at Harvard University and is pursuing her doctorate in Organization and Leadership at Columbia University.

Ryosuke (Reo) Watanabe, Ph.D.

Ryosuke (Reo) Watanabe is a leadership developer and researcher. His dream is to strengthen world peace by promoting leadership not only at an individual level but also at a systemic level. He teaches adaptive leadership using the case-in-point method and offers executive training both in the United States and Japan. His research focuses on the intersection of adaptive leadership and adult development. He is a certified reliable Subject-Object Interview scorer and a certified coach of the Global Leadership Profile. He is also a trained facilitator of the Immunity to Change and the case-in-point pedagogy.

As one of the founding members of the International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) in Japan, Reo helped the establishment of iCLA in Yamanashi in 2015 to educate future global leaders from Japan through an innovative liberal arts curriculum with a world-class Japan Studies Program. Before iCLA, he was Research Associate in the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University and conducted a comparative analysis of leadership development in the USA and Japan. Reo has extensive leadership experience as an entrepreneur. In 2001, he founded a digital marketing firm, Dentsu Razorfish (formerly named Digital Palette), in Tokyo and Osaka and had served as Chief Executive Officer for nine years. During the period, he formed a capital alliance with Razorfish in the U.S.A. and served on the Razorfish global leadership team for three years. He also served on the Board of Directors of Cyber Communications, the largest internet media agency in Japan, and Fractalist China, a leading mobile marketing company in China.

Reo earned a BA in Economics from Hitotsubashi University in Japan, holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego.
